Winning Big At Baccarat

In a real casino Baccarat or Punto Banco is generally played in a separate area. The Baccarat playing table is about the size of a craps table with up to 12 or 14 players and three casino dealers. Baccarat can also be played at online casinos.

There are only two primary bets to make: by the banker or player - Banco or Punto, in addition to the rarely used Standoff. Some online and land based casinos let the Baccarat players themselves deal out the cards in turn, and others have a casino dealer do the dealing. In online Baccarat, however, cards are dealt by a virtual dealer, automatically.

When playing Baccarat either at a brick and mortar casino or an online casino, each player, as well as the player dealing, is allowed to bet on either Punto or Banco, but it is customary, however, for the dealer to usually bet on Banco. Players may decide not to deal and may pass the ‘Shoe’ to the next player. The shoe stays with one player as long as the Bank is winning, except of course when playing at an online casino.

In either online or brick and mortar casinos, when playing Baccarat, there are two hands dealt. The player bets on which one will win, or that there will be a tie. It is identical to making a bet on Black or Red at roulette, and the payoff is even money. When playing Baccarat in an online casino, the only difference between the Banco and Punto bet, is the house’s built-in advantage, where a win on Banco will cost you 5% commission.
